The CSU volleyball team didn't want to deal with a repeat of last year in Logan, Utah.

The Rams were forced into a decisive fifth set last season after taking a 2-0 lead. They ultimately won one of the best matches of the year, but didn't want to relive it Thursday, Sept. 25.

Colorado State University again took an early lead, but this time the Rams finished off the Aggies in four sets, taking a 3-1 win to open Mountain West play.

The No. 7 Rams (13-1, 1-0 MW) won 25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18. Marlee Reynolds led the team with 14 kills, and Acacia Andrews put up nine blocks.

Jasmine Hanna had 13 kills, and Kelsey Snider and Andrews had nine each.

"Acacia created separation tonight. She was exceptional blocking tonight," coach Tom Hilbert said. "We survived it because we didn't miss serves, we didn't have unforced errors."

Utah State (4-7, 0-1) was led by Kaylie Kalumu's 18 kills.

"You get a road win to start conference," Hilbert said. "It wasn't the prettiest, but you have to love that."

The Rams face Boise State on the road at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.
