FORT COLLINS — Colorado State’s volleyball team extended its winning streak over the weekend, emerging as the only unbeaten team in Mountain West play. It also allowed the Rams to move up to No. 6 in the AVCA Coaches Poll and raise a spot in the RPI to 13.

It made for a nice week, and the contributions of Dri Culbert toward those efforts earned her the distinction of the conference player of the week.

The junior opposite hitter had a phenomenal weekend on the attack, posting 18 kills on 30 swings with just one hitting error as the No. 7 Rams swept past Wyoming and Fresno State. She hit .500 against Wyoming and .625 in the win over FSU. In addition, she had 33 digs in the two matches, six blocks with a service ace.

Now 18-1 on the season and 6-0 in Mountain West play, the Rams hold a two-game lead in the conference standings as they hit the road this week for matches at New Mexico and Air Force for back-to-back matches starting Thursday.

Culbert is the fourth Ram to win the award this year and the second straight, following setter Deedra Foss last week. It is the third time members from the same team have won the award four out five weeks, but the first time all were different players.

CSU’s currently ranking is the best for the program since Oct. 29, 2001.
