Chantale Riddle may be the preseason Mountain West Player of the Year, but Adrianna Culbert isn't bad either.

In a battle of opposite hitters, CSU's Culbert shined Thursday in a 25-17, 25-23, 25-22 Rams sweep at New Mexico.

Culbert, who was named the espnW national player of the week Wednesday, had match-high 13 kills.

"This is as well as she's ever played. She was flying all over the place," Colorado State University coach Tom Hilbert said. "She was doing all the things she wanted to do. I was super pleased."

New Mexico's Riddle was held to just nine kills and hit .080 for the match.

"We did a good job on Chantale. I thought she was put in precarious positions and made more mistakes than you would think," Hilbert said. "We were digging very well. I think our blocking changed their game plan. We played great defense the whole night."

Not only did the Rams hold New Mexico to .066 hitting for the match, they also outblocked the Lobos 11-6. Kelsey Snider had four and Jasmine Hanna had three.

The No. 6 Rams (19-1, 7-0 MW) were in control throughout the first set, hitting .316 as Adrianna Culbert and Marlee Reynolds had five kills each.

Riddle had just one kill and hit minus-.200 in the set.

In the second set, CSU trailed by as much as six but had a 7-0 rally and ended up winning 25-23 to head to intermission up 2-0.

The Rams and Lobos (11-8, 4-3 MW) were tied at 12 in the third set, but CSU pulled away and got the sweep for its 30th straight regular season win away from Moby Arena.

CSU next plays at Air Force at 6 p.m. Friday.
