The CSU volleyball recorded two 3-0 victories Saturday, Sept. 20 to finish nonconference play with a stellar 12-1 record.

Just over 12 hours after finishing a five-set win over No. 18 Arizona State, No. 8 Colorado State University returned to the court to sweep Pepperdine 25-13, 25-23, 25-20.

Marlee Reynolds led CSU with nine kills. Jasmine Hanna had eight, Kelsey Snider had six, Dri Culbert had five and Acacia Andrews had four. The Rams hit .333 for the match, holding Pepperdine to .122.

The Rams then swept North Carolina Central (0-15) 25-15, 25-20, 25-12 to win the Residence Inn Challenge in Tempe, Arizona. CSU rested Dri Culbert, Acacia Andrews and Deedra Foss for the final match. Libero Jaime Colaizzi only played two sets.

Hanna led the Rams with kills, Reynolds had 10 and Snider had eight. Freshman Sanja Cizmic hit .571 with five kills and Crystal Young had 33 assists. Cizmic and Kaitlind Bestgen had three service aces each.

"I thought they were great," coach Tom Hilbert said of his young players. "It was good to see a lineup we hadn't had before and we got to see people doing things in game action. It was great."

CSU had two top 20 wins (BYU and Arizona State) in nonconference play and starts Mountain West action at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at Utah State as the Rams begin the quest for a sixth-straight conference title.
