FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State tight ends Cameron Butler and Trey McBride were both named to the John Mackey Award watch list Friday, making the Rams one of three teams nationally with two players to be considered for the award given annually to the top player at the position.

Boston College and Washington also had two players named to the list of 60 players. All future announcements can be found at www.johnmackeyaward.com.

The Mackey Award has been presented since 2000 to the most outstanding college tight end, as chosen by a vote of the award's selection committee. The winner will be announced Dec. 11, 2019 and presented as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet show on ESPNU.

The award is named after NFL Hall of Famer John Mackey, considered to be the best to have played the position. There are 15 former winners who have gone on to play in the NFL.

In his sophomore season, Butler was the Rams' fourth-leading receiver with 29 catches, good for 312 yards. He has played in all 25 games of his collegiate career, starting 17 of them, collecting 41 receptions for 483 yards and three touchdowns. This is the second consecutive year Butler has been named to the Mackey watch list.

McBride played in all 12 games in 2018 as a true freshman, starting five contests. He finished the season with seven catches for 89 yards, including a 48-yard scoring reception on the road at Florida.
