The Jakarta Band kicks off Lagoon Concert Series June 19

The Jakarta Band will kick of the 2019 Lagoon Concert Series at Colorado State University on Wednesday, June 19.

The live music begins at 6 p.m. near the Lagoon with a Little Kids Rock performance by Talia Lima.

Based out of Denver, The Jakarta Band has a distinctive old-school funk, disco and R&B sound. The nine-member band loves to get its audiences up and dancing.

Lead member Isaac Points brings more than 35 years of experience to the stage and has played with national legends such as Chuck Berry and Tony Bennett.The Denver native began his musical career at the age of 9, playing trumpet. At 17 he switched to bass and began working Denver’s local club scene. Points has experimented with everything from jazz to country, and is consistently committed to perfecting his art.

 

KRFC broadcasts

For the first time, the Lagoon Summer Concert Series will not only be enjoyed by show attendees, but by radio listeners across northern Colorado and around the world. Starting June 26, KRFC 88.9 FM Radio Fort Collins will broadcast each of the seven concerts the following week as part of its “Around Town” series, which airs Wednesdays at 7 p.m. The partnership is a reflection of the mission the two organizations share – enhancing community relationships and pride through the love of arts and entertainment.

“The Lagoon Summer Concert Series is a great example of the spirit and culture in our area,” said KRFC 88.9 FM Radio Fort Collins Executive Director Jen Parker. “We are proud to support this popular summer tradition and share it with a much bigger audience.”
