Application Process

Timeline

  • Admission Deadline: November 1, 2024
  • Classes begin: June 23, 2025
     

The review of applications will occur as applicants are submitted and will be completed prior to interviews. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted within 2-3 weeks of submitting their application to schedule an interview. All applicants that submit by the admissions deadline and meet the minimum application requirements will be invited for a video conference interview. This allows us to consider all applicants the same and get to know them during the interview process. Interviews will occur between November 1st and 17th.

Our goal is to offer admissions decisions by December 1, 2024.

  • General application on ATCAS
    • Includes a CV and Personnel Statement
  • 2-letters of recommendations. We recommend the following for your letters of recommendation:
    • One letter should come from a certified athletic trainer about your clinical ability
    • One letter should come from a professor or any professional about your academic ability
  • Official transcripts from ALL colleges/universities attended
  • Essay
    • Describe how your life experiences have prepared you for the rigors of graduate education and how they make you a qualified candidate for the athletic training program.
  • Prerequisite Information
  • Signed Technical Standards document

*Applicants DO NOT need to apply to the University of Utah Graduate School unless a formal admissions offer has been extended. Detailed instructions for the University of Utah Graduate School application process will be included in the offer letter.

International Applicants

Please review the International Student Application Policy prior to applying through ATCAS.

Minimal Requirements

  • At least a 3.0 or higher undergraduate weighted mean GPA on a 4.0 scale
    • If the undergraduate GPA is below 3.0, a GPA will be calculated based upon the last 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) if the student attended a U.S. institution.
  • A 3.0 or higher GPA in prerequisite coursework
  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited U.S. college or university
  • Completion of the prerequisite course and observation hours

**NO GRE score is required

Immunizations 

Upon acceptance into the program, students are required to provide evidence of completed vaccinations for Hepatitis B (three successive shots), TB test (within one year), MMR, and TDAP (within the last 10 years). We recommend other vaccinations that are standard for all healthcare providers, for example, flu vaccine.

Tuition

The Master of Athletic Training program was awarded a certain number of slots for the Western Regional Graduate Program. If you are a non-resident from the Western United State, please reference tuition costs associated with the program.
